The Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) program recognizes individuals who have achieved the industry's highest standard of professionalism. Established in 1985, the CMP program was developed to increase the proficiency of meeting professionals in all segments of the industry. The requirements for certification are based on professional experience and an academic examination.

Only 12,000 Meeting and Event Planners worldwide hold this designation.

The Convention Industry Council (CIC)

Founded in 1949, CIC includes 32 member organizations – of which ISES and MPI are proud members.

The Convention Industry Council's member organizations represent more than 103,500 individuals, as well as, 17,300 firms and properties involved in the meetings, conventions, and exhibitions industries.

ISES and MPI are proud supporters of the Convention Industry Council’s Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) Program.

What is a Certification in Meeting Management (CMM)?

Meeting Professionals International offers this certification program. Global certification in meeting management that focuses on strategic thinking and actions for senior-level meeting professionals.

Only 400 Individuals have their CMM Certification worldwide.

How is the CMP different from the CMM?

The Certificate in Meeting Management (CMM) in no way affects the status of the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation. In a very non-competitive posture, MPI structured the CMM to complement the CMP designation. Whereas the CMP is tactical in nature, the CMM focuses on strategic initiatives and executive decision-making.
